The Sick And The Wrong was opened in 1993 by Steve Giles and has been selling snowboards since day one, making them one of the longest running independent retailers in the UK.
Originally based on Keswick Main Street we moved to our present location near the Pencil Museum back in 2005. The new location offers free customer parking, more space for us to make a mess whilst still being close to Keswick town center.
Back in '93 we stocked 12 boards, this year 200! So things have really changed. What hasn't altered is our passion for riding, stocking the best equipment and offering the best advice to our customers. All our staff are commited snowboarders.
Steve Giles started riding in 1987 so has been in the sport since just about the beginning he's ridden most stuff at most places. He averages about 4 weeks riding per year, both locally, Scotland and abroad (mainly France). He seems to ride well for his age:) focusing mainly on off piste and powder riding, touring with a split board and snowkiting badly! Other interests include Paragliding obsessively, road riding and mountain biking.
John Tallentire was initaily a Sick and Wrong customer buying his 1st board back in'96! He joined us after full season in Chamonix in Autumn 1998. Despite his best efforts (leaving in Spring 2004 for a year and another winter season in Les 2 Alpes) he's been stuck ever since! Having a young family hasn't slowed down his appetite for riding even if it's tied him down time wise. His eldest Mira will be an Olympic hopeful for 2020 having learn't to ride last season aged only 3! John is a keen Old School BMX racer, becoming North Region Champion in 2009, as well as a keen Wakeboarder.
We are open 6 days a week, closed wednesday.
Free customer parking, full workshop and servicing, huge range of hard and soft goods and free advice from commited snowboarders.
